Tammy and Gary Hooker

A Shared Calling

Gary and Tammy Hooker Bring Heart and Experience to Cambridge Caregivers’ New Austin Office

When Gary and Tammy Hooker open the doors of Cambridge Caregivers’ new Austin office on November 3, 2025, they’re not just launching a business—they’re bringing their shared sense of purpose to serve families in Central Texas.

As Directors of Cambridge Caregivers’ Austin office, the husband-and-wife team combine decades of experience in human resources, training and business leadership with empathy rooted in personal experience.

Tammy Hooker: Building Confidence Through Training and Care

For Tammy Hooker, caregiving isn’t just a profession—it’s personal. After joining Cambridge in 2021, Tammy also cared for her own mother, who lived with dementia in her final years. That experience shapes how she approaches her role every day.

“Being a caregiver for a loved one changes you,” Tammy said. “You see how overwhelming it can be for families, and how much it means to have someone compassionate and capable by your side. That’s what we strive to provide at Cambridge Caregivers.”

As Human Resources Executive, Tammy helped design and lead the Manchester Living Institute, Cambridge’s companywide caregiver training program. The curriculum equips caregivers not only with technical skills but also with emotional intelligence – the sensitivity that helps them connect with clients and families with empathy and professionalism.

“Caregivers are the heart of everything we do,” she said. “My mission is to support them so they can bring their best selves to every home they enter. When caregivers feel valued, clients feel cared for—that’s the Cambridge difference.”

Gary Hooker: Leading with Vision and Purpose

Gary Hooker joined Cambridge Caregivers in 2025 after a 24-year career as co-founder of Imaginuity, a Dallas-based marketing agency known for its innovation and client service. A lifelong entrepreneur, Gary was drawn to Cambridge by the opportunity to apply his leadership skills to a business that changes lives in tangible, human ways.

“After two decades in the corporate world, I wanted to do something that made a direct, personal impact,” Gary said. “At Cambridge, every decision we make ultimately affects someone’s quality of life. That’s incredibly motivating.”

Gary brings a strategic mindset and a deep appreciation for the role of trust in any successful relationship, whether with clients, caregivers or community partners.

“In this work, you’re not just managing logistics; you’re helping families make emotional, often difficult decisions,” he said. “That requires empathy, transparency and a true commitment to service. Those are all values Tammy and I share.”

A Holistic Approach to Family Care

Together, Gary and Tammy bring a holistic perspective to the Austin office—one that balances operational excellence with heartfelt understanding. Tammy’s focus on people and training complements Gary’s strategic leadership and community-building instincts.

Their partnership, both personal and professional, mirrors Cambridge Caregivers’ approach: a family-oriented culture grounded in compassion, respect and continuous improvement.

“As a family-owned company, we understand that caring for others starts with caring for members of our team,” Gary said. “That’s what allows us to provide the level of service Cambridge is known for.”

A Company Built on Compassion and Professionalism

Cambridge Caregivers is a Dallas-based provider of concierge-level in-home care. It was founded in 2014 with a mission to deliver exceptional caregiving that emphasizes compassion, professionalism and respect.

Unlike many competitors, which rely on contract employees, members of the Cambridge Caregivers team are W-2 employees who receive paid training, benefits and ongoing education. The company currently has offices in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston—and now, with the opening of the Austin office, continues its steady growth across Texas.

“Our goal has always been to make Cambridge synonymous with trust and excellence,” said CEO Adam Lampert. “Having Gary and Tammy lead our Austin expansion is a perfect fit. They embody the family values and personal commitment that define who we are as a company.”

Serving Families in Austin and Beyond

The Hookers say they’re eager to bring Cambridge’s trusted model of care to Austin’s growing community.

“Austin is a special place: dynamic, connected and full of families who care deeply for one another,” Tammy said. “We’re honored to help those families navigate the journey of caring for loved ones at home.”
