Join Walks to Fight Alzheimer’s, ALS Across Texas
At Cambridge Caregivers, we’re committed to making a difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and ALS. This fall, several members of the Cambridge Caregivers team stepped up to participate in the Walk to Defeat ALS and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in cities across Texas. In Houston, Fort Worth, Irving, and Dallas, they walked to raise awareness and critical funds to support Alzheimer’s and ALS research and patient care. On Nov. 2, team members Denise and Masha participated in the ALS Walk in Irving, while
Lisa and Robin joined the Alzheimer’s Walk in Dallas the same day. Earlier, on Oct. 19, Rachel walked for ALS in Fort Worth, and on Nov. 16, Megan represented Cambridge Caregivers at the Walk to Defeat ALS in Houston.

Each step taken during these events symbolized hope, solidarity and a commitment to finding solutions for these two terrible diseases. People affected by ALS or Alzheimer’s disease often eventually require round-the-clock care at home, or in a memory care or
skilled nursing community. Many of our Caregivers provide in-home care to clients who are living with ALS or Alzheimer’s and their families.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disorder causing memory loss, cognitive decline, and behavioral changes, eventually impairing the ability to perform daily tasks and recognize loved ones.
ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that damages nerve cells, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventual loss of vital bodily functions.
“Fundraising through the Walk drives bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a treatment and ultimately a cure for ALS,” according to the ALS Association website. Participants’ involvement in the Walk to Defeat ALS “has a direct impact on people
living with ALS and their families at the local level. Through education, support groups, access to care and advocacy, we are working to defeat ALS and provide hope.”
Our employees rallied their communities—friends, family and coworkers—to contribute through the ALS Association’s and Alzheimer’s Associations online donation platforms. Notably, Denise raised $272, and Robin raised $125, helping to support the ALS Association’s mission. A final tally of funds raised through our collective efforts is still pending, but every dollar contributes to advancing research and improving lives.
Supporting Caregivers Beyond the Walk
Cambridge Caregivers also contributed to the events by providing care packages to walk attendees. These kits included essentials such as bandages, medical kits, healing ointments and bed pads—supplies that can be a lifeline for family caregivers supporting loved ones with ALS. In addition, giveaways were held to thank participants and celebrate their efforts. We’re contacting the winners now and will share updates via social media as we distribute those giveaways.
A Culture of Caring
We are incredibly proud of our team. For them, caregiving is not just a job. It’s a passion. Their participation in the Alzheimer’s and ALS walks highlights that dedication. We thank our employees, their families and everyone who donated or supported us during these events. Together, we are making a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and ALS!
