Serving Those Who Served

A Family Tradition of Service

Whenever the U.S. military is in the news, it hits a little closer to home for Carmillia Carter, Recruiting Manager and Employee Relations Specialist for Cambridge Caregivers.

That’s because her daughter, Lawrencia Carter, is currently serving in the U.S. Army and has been stationed at Fort Hood for the past four and a half years.

For Carmillia, who goes by “Carter,” that service is a source of pride—and part of a longstanding family legacy.

“We have a lot of military connections in our family, on my side as well as on Lawrencia’s father’s side,” said Carter. “I think she wanted to be able to experience that herself.”

Carter’s grandfather, Robert Gomillia, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Another family member—Carter’s uncle—also served in the Army during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Lawrencia is a noncommissioned officer (NCO) and is taking full advantage of the Army’s educational opportunities, studying computer technology while continuing her service.

Carter plays a key role at Cambridge Caregivers, recruiting and supporting the caregivers who serve our clients every day, including those who are veterans. Cambridge Caregivers is an authorized in-network provider for the VA Medical Center, allowing eligible veterans to receive premium-level in-home care at no cost to them.

Cambridge Caregivers thank Lawrencia for her service as well as all of our clients and their family members who are veterans. We’re honored to serve those who have served our country.
